From Gothenburg, Sweden, Christian Johannesson left his mark at South Kent. He developed into an All-State performer as he was named to the All Star team. Johannesson was also a key member of the 2006 New England Championship team.

Christian Johannsson would go on to play for Greensboro College through 2011. Johannesson impressed with his versatile skillset and strong work ethic while at Greensboro. As a result, he would sign a contract with FC Hisingsbacka, a professional team in his home country of Sweden.

Michael Garzi was born and raised in nearby New Milford, CT. He was a part of the 2008 New England Championship team at South Kent, anchoring the midfield as the team captain for three of his four seasons. From 2007-08, Garzi recorded many personal accolades such as All-Western New England and All- State, additionally making the all star team twice. 

Garzi would go on to play for the Colgate Raiders from 2009-2012, where he solidified his legacy as one of the greatest leaders to wear maroon and white. During his junior year, Michael Garzi played in every game, tallying a goal and two assists in the regular season. In the Patriot League Championship, Garzi scored the game-winning goal to help Colgate punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament. He had a breakout personal year in 2012, finishing the season second in team points with eight. This performance earned him All-Patriot League Second Team Honors, capping off an incredible collegiate career.

After Colgate, Garzi signed his first professional contract with the Rochester Rhinos of the USL, scoring 4 goals in 100 games from 2014-17. Garzi was an active member of the Rochester community, as he won the team’s Community Service Award in 2015 following the Rhinos National Championship.

Reggie Thompson-Lambe was born in Hamilton, Bermuda, where he resided before coming to South Kent. At the age of 16, Thompson-Lambe made his first appearance on the Bermudian National Team against St. Kitts and Nevis. He scored 4 goals in a match vs Saint Martin in 2008, as Bermud went on to win the game 7-0. This allowed him to join the Hillside with tons of confidence, as he was a part of the 2009 New England Championship team. 

Thompson-Lambe commenced his professional career with Ipswitch Town, making two appearances from 2009-2011. Reggie Thompson-Lambe then made 7 appearances with the Bristol Rowers, as his play intrigued the scouts of Toronto FC. Consequently, Thompson-Lambe signed with Toronto FC later in 2011. In 54 appearances, he scored two goals, the most notable one coming against the Chicago Fire in 2012.  Following his tenure with Toronto FC, Thompson-Lambe played for Nykopings in Sweden for a short stint, then bounced around many English teams through 2023 such as Mansfield Town, Carlisle United, AFC Sudbury, and more.

Fabio Pereira was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil for most of his childhood. His exceptional ability to play soccer landed him with a scholarship at South Kent School, where he made his mark. Pereira was a two time All-State and All Star player, helping South Kent win back-to-back New England Championships in 2008 and 2009.

Due to his academic success, Pereira earned a scholarship to play soccer at the University of Michigan, enrolling in the College of Literature, Science, and Arts. As a freshman, Pereira started 12 games and recorded a goal and 5 assists, his lone goal coming in overtime against no. 3 Maryland to go to the College Cup. This goal led to positive momentum for his sophomore year, as Pereira had four goals and five assists, leading the team in both categories. This stellar play won him the team’s Offensive MVP Award. During his junior year, Gimenez had a career high 6 goals on 8 assists, netting a hat trick against Niagara in the NCAA Tournament. In 2013, Pereira was selected to the All-Big Ten First Team, finishing his Michigan career with 13 goals and 22 assists, which is second in program history.

After his senior year, Fabio Pereira was drafted by the Seattle Sounders FC of the MLS 77th overall. He would play for the Sounders FC through 2014 before ending his career with Uberlandia in his native country Brazil.

Luca Gimenez was a 2010 graduate from South Kent, as he put together a storied career in red and black. Gimenez was named First Team All-State in 2009, scoring 16 goals and leading the Cardinals to the New England Championship.

He continued to make headlines at Wake Forest University as an underclassman, starting every game his freshman year while being selected to the All-ACC Freshman Team and the All-Tournament Team his sophomore season. In his junior year, Gimenez won All-ACC Second Team honors, and he helped the Demon Deacons make the NCAA Tournament his senior year. Gimenez would later fulfill his dreams of playing professional soccer, going on to play for the Philadelphia Union of the MLS.

Tahj Bell was born and raised in Bermuda before coming to the United States to further his soccer career. Bell was a NEPSAC standout as a goalkeeper, enabling him to move up the ranks quickly. In August of 2013, Tahj Bell made his professional debut with Hitchin Town, a semi-professional soccer club in England. Tahj Bell made 47 appearances for Hitchin Town before leaving the club in 2015. Bell also made two appearances for the Bermuda National Team, debuting in November of 2011 against Barbados in a World Cup Qualification match.

Miguel Carneiro is a 2011 graduate of South Kent School, as he previously went to New Milford High School. Originally from Brazil, Carneiro loved the game of soccer from a young age. Since he was a player who excelled right away, he earned himself the opportunity to become a scholarship athlete at South Kent.

He fit into the culture at South Kent instantly, propelling him onto the collegiate soccer scene. After getting interest from many schools, Miguel Carneiro signed with the University of Southern New Hampshire Penmen. As his freshmen year began, Carneiro’s hard work in high school with the Cardinals came to fruition, as he was a Northeast-10 Third Team All-Conference and Northeast-10 All-Rookie selection, totaling 8 points. Carneiro built upon his success during his junior year by being nominated to the Northeast-10 Second Team All-Conference team, scoring three goals on three assists. The most notable memory of this season included the opening goal of the Division II National Championship, which they would later win in penalty kicks. Carneiro’s steady improvement continued in his senior year, earning First Team honors and having three goals on nine assists.

Miguel Carneiro finished his soccer career playing with the Elm City Express, as he now works as a Financial Advisor for Connecticut Wealth Management.

From Accra Ghana, Joshua Bolma has been a standout soccer talent for his entire career. After his graduation from the Rising Stars Academy in Ghana, he earned a scholarship to play at South Kent. During his 4 years on the Hillside, Bolma helped the Cardinals to an impressive 63-3-5 record under head coach Owen Finberg, scoring 33 goals and tallying 27 assists. He won a national championship and was an All State and a National All-American recipient by Top Drawer soccer. 

Joshua Bolma then took his talents to the University of Maryland, where he shined for two years. During the 2021 season, Bolma was a Freshman All-American, Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Freshman All-Big Ten, and First Team All-Big Ten recipient, scoring 4 goals along with 4 assists. His sophomore year was no different, notching another 2 goals and 8 assists and getting his second selection to the Big Ten First Team, becoming the fourth Terp ever to make the first team multiple times. 

In the 2023 MLS SuperDraft, Joshua Bolma was selected 4th overall by the New England Revolution. On July 15, 2023, Bolma made his MLS debut in a 4-0 win against D.C. United at Gillette Stadium.

Matthew Bell, brother of current South Kent student Joshua Bell, graduated from South Kent in 2022. During his time on the Hillside, Bell was the NEPSAC Player of the Year for the 2021-22 NEPSAC Championship team. He then took his talents to Marshall University after first going to Kingston College. At Marshall, Matthew Bell was a member of the First Team All-Sun Belt team and the 2022 Sun Belt Men’s Soccer Freshman of the Year. This past fall, Bell continued to be an elite performer, scoring 10 goals and tallying 12 assists to his name. Because of these gaudy numbers, Matthew Bell won Offensive Player of the Year and Player of the Year in the Sun Belt Conference.

In December of 2023, Matthew Bell was drafted 16th overall in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft.
